We
can safely say another Masters Week past and our
town is back to the way it was before once again.
If you didn't get a chance to attend the
Masters Tournament or you missed the TV coverage there was another Green
Jacket handed out to the lucky winner.
Don't worry, if you missed the Masters
this year there is always another one next year.
Great
riding times are ahead of us and we want to enjoy the time out on the road
by staying as safe as possible.
In previous newsletters we talked about
maintenance for your bike, choosing your ride, and rider training.
Now Group Riding is the topic of
discussion.
The first link below is to the SCRC
National web site.
The page is very informative and long but
worth reading.
Remember the intent of the guideline is to
provide members of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club information to
help members ride together safely. Please keep in mind these are guidelines
and not intended to restrict your freedom, but instead, to help ensure
members return home safely.
The guidelines cannot encompass every
possible set of circumstances.
They are intended to serve as basic
guidelines for most situations. Each person is therefore expected to read,
understand, and apply these guidelines, using their best judgment.
Please remember that YOU have the ultimate
responsibility for YOUR safety.
Always ride within your capabilities and
that of your machine, never put yourself in an uncomfortable situation.
While this guideline states that the Road
Captain is in charge of the ride, it is the 1st Officer and/or
the 2nd Officer of the Chapter that are overall in charge of
their chapter and all functions concerning the chapter including a ride. All
the officers should be intimately familiar with this guide and the safe
riding practices.
The second link will take you to a page that
displays commonly used hand signals.
Not all hand signals are covered, if you
have any questions prior to a ride please ask the road captain to
demonstrate the hand signals we commonly use.
The third and final link will take you to an interactive page showing group
riding tips and techniques.

MONTHLY HEALTH TIP:
by Randy Taylor
Lowering Blood Pressure with CoQ10
This months supplement is Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10 for
short) it jump starts every cell in the body to function at its peak.
Cells that make high-energy organs like
the heart require more CoQ10 than cells in other parts of the body like the
fingernails.
Although our bodies make CoQ10 the
reserves in our bodies lowers as we age, and if you have heart disease it
will deplete it even more. High blood pressure also depletes CoQ10 reserves,
making the heart weaker. But you can boost your heart's store of energy by
supplementing with CoQ10.
Published in the (Journal Of Human Hypertension) 2007, scientist did 12
studies and found a significant drop in blood pressure among volunteers who
took the supplement.
Anyone that has any type of heart disease can benefit from taking CoQ10
says(Jim Roberts,MD) author of REVERSE HEART DISEASE . It helps meet the
needs of an overworked heart.
While statins (cholesterol medications) can help save lives, the drug keeps
the body from making CoQ10 by 50%, so you should be supplementing CoQ10 if
you are on statins.
Guide for buying CoQ10, since it needs fat to be absorbed by the body, best
to take with food or in an oil-based softgel rather than a dry tablet. Look
for softgel (Nature Made's CoQ10) on the supplement aisle
Recommended Dosage is 30 to 300 mg daily.
Thanks,
Randy
Hope to see you out on the road.
