Spring
riding weather is once again upon us.
If you or your bike mechanic hasn’t
performed scheduled maintenance checks on your bike, now is the time to get
it done.
You should schedule a time to get the necessary
maintenance completed before you start riding this spring.
This will help to keep your bike running
as safe as possible.
If "Pre-Flight Safety Checks" work for
airplane pilots, then “Pre-Ride Safety Checks" can definitely work for
motorcycle riders.
What I mean by this is completing a
pre-ride safety check prior to every ride. That’s the best way to find
little problems before they become big ones. Bikes vary by make and model,
the best thing to do is consult your owner’s manual for the recommended
scheduled checks needed to keep you riding safe.
Before
every ride you should check the following:
1. Check the oil level.
If you have separate transmission oil,
don't forget to check that too.
If you can't remember the last time you
changed your oil replace it with good quality motorcycle oil.
2. Check your tires.
Keep them inflated to the recommended air
pressure, make sure there is enough tread for safe riding.
Don't forget to check for dry rot and
uneven tire wear.
3. Check for fluid leaks all around the bike to include oil, brake fluid,
fuel, and coolant.
Make sure they are at the proper levels.
4. Check bolt tightness.
5. Check electrical switches and controls.
If something is wrong with your bike get it fixed
as soon as possible.
Don't put your life and the lives of
others around you at risk.

MONTHLY HEALTH TIP:
by Randy Taylor
OMEGA-3 AND HEART HEALTH ..... Everyone should
consider supplementing their diets with Omega 3 Fatty Acids.
Let me tell you why, 3 grams a day can
boost heart health by lowering blood pressure and triglycerides.
Omega 3 Fatty Acids can lower your odds of
keeling over from a heart attack by reducing heart disease by 30%, as
reported by STANFORD PREVENTION RESEARCH CENTER at Stanford School of
Medicine.
Omega 3’s like hormones, help to regulate blood
pressure, blood sugar levels, and inflammation--- all factors of heart
disease. There are two main sources of omega-3 fatty acids: marine sources
(fatty fish) provide EPA and DHA, and plant food sources (flax, walnuts, &
canola oil) provide alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). These two types are widely
available and popular dietary supplements.
Whether plant sources or marine sources
provide similar benefits is still controversial.
If you wish to add Omega3 fish oil type to
your daily supplements, make sure to read the label and look for
Eicosapentaenoic Acid (EPA) and Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA). Those are the
two Omega 3s found in fish. Thanks, Randy
Hope to see you out on the road.
