The New Year is off to a great start, there were some great rides in January. You can see pictures of the rides and gatherings we had by visiting our forum site at this web address - http://forums.delphiforums.com/augustachapter/start.

MONTHLY MEETING INFO: The next monthly meeting is on Saturday Feb 16, 2008. The meeting is always held the third Saturday of the month. The time is always at 1:00pm and the location is always at the Side Track Bar and Grill on Washington Road in Martinez.

We want to make sure all members know, it does not take a Road Captain to lead a ride. Anyone can coordinate and lead a ride as long as you do it safely. We encourage everyone to lead a ride to there favorite place. It might be a great place you know about and want to share with everyone or even a great restaurant you would like to eat at(which by the way can be located in or around the Augusta area), feel free to talk with anyone of the officers for group riding and safety tips. We also encourage members to provide ride/location suggestions. If there is a particular place you would like visit and don't feel comfortable leading the ride, let us know, we will see if one of the officers is willing to coordinate the ride for you.

NOTE: If you no longer wish to receive this email please let me know and I will remove your name from the email list.

If you would like to have your name removed from being a member of the Augusta SCRC Chapter Riding Club please let Tracy know at the following email address - tim228@hotmail.com , he will then ask me to remove your name from the email list.

Please take the time to visit our Forum web page on Delphi Forums - http://forums.delphiforums.com/augustachapter/start there is no cost for the basic membership. There you can find the latest up to date ride information and general discussions about events going on with the chapter. There is also info about the mileage program and other great news about the chapter. Remember if you are joining the forum page for the first time, introduce yourself to everyone in the "New Members" tab with your forum name and your real name so the rest of us will know who you are.

UPCOMING RIDES: The World Traveler ride(s) is a program sponsored by US Rider News Magazine. I was hoping to get this information out before the first ride started to give everyone a chance to try to make it to at least 6 of the rides to meet the program qualifications but Kenny got the jump on me before I could send this out. The first part of the ride was started this weekend on Saturday Feb 9th. The went to Egypt and Denmark, Georgia. Since these two locations are fairly close to the Augusta area I am sure there will be another ride to these two locations for those that missed today's ride. We will be going through Egypt, GA on our Savannah day ride on February 23. We will stop to take the picture required during that ride. You can get more information on The World Traveler program at this web site - http://www.usridernews.com/worldtraveler.asp
Over the next 6 to 8 months the Road Captains will coordinate rides to different cities that have names of countries. Once an individual visited at least 6 locations, took a picture of themselves with the sign of that town and holding a US Rider News publication, you mail your application along with your pictures to US Rider News and they will provide you with a World Traveler patch. Here were some suggested cities to visit in Georgia - Athens, Augusta Bethlehem, Budapest, Buena Vista, Egypt, Denmark, Berlin, Scotland, Cairo, Dublin, Geneva, Lebanon, Rhine, Rome, and Milan pretty cool huh. There will be more info to follow. Hopefully I will be able to get the info out before the ride actually happens.

SAVANNAH INVASION: Feb 21 thru 24. Some are planning on going the entire weekend. I am leading a day ride to Savannah on Saturday Feb 23. We will start at the Spirit/McDonald’s station on Hwy 56 (Mike Padgett Hwy) Start time will be announced on the Forum, anyone interested should keep an eye on the forum for latest info.

UPCOMING OVERNIGHT/DAY RIDES:
South Carolina SCRC State Rally: May 9 & 10, in Spartanburg, SC., keep an eye on the forum for the latest info. This is the 1st South Carolina SCRC State Rally. No one mentioned going overnight but I am sure there will be a day ride to this event. The South Carolina SCRC members are putting together some nice rides.

Tenn. Ridge Runner Rally (SCRC event) and Honda Hoot: There are several members planning overnight rides to both of these events. They both take place in June. More info to follow.

Georgia SCRC Rally: Third Weekend in July. The location changed to Cartersville, Georgia. The host hotel and overflow hotels are filled but there are a lot of hotels to stay in the area. More information available at the Georgia Forum Site - http://forums.delphiforums.com/gascrc/start

Randy is still working on plans for some weekend and a week long ride to ride the Blue Ridge Parkway. Time will be announced on the Forum, anyone interested should keep an eye on the forum for latest info.

Hope to see you out on the road.
